Professor Bhidayasiri earned his medical degree from Chulalongkorn University in 1993. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Ireland in 1998, and was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2005. His career is distinguished by fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2008 and Ireland in 2010.
His research focuses on data science and technology-driven assessments, resulting in clinical innovations such as a diagnostic tremor algorithm, a device for monitoring nocturnal hypokinesia, a tremor suppression glove, a PD shoe, and an anti-choking mug. He serves as the Specialty Chief Editor for Neurotechnology in Frontiers in Neurology and as Associate Editor for the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease.
Professor Bhidayasiri has published four international textbooks, including the Handbook of Digital Technologies in Movement Disorders (Academic Press). He has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications and filed 17 patent applications on technologies. His contributions have earned him numerous awards, including the President’s Distinguished Service Award from the International Movement Disorder Society (MDS) in 2015.
He led the Asian-Oceanian section of the MDS (MDS-AOS) from 2019 to 2021 and currently serves on the international executive committee of the MDS, and the secretary/treasurer of the Asian-Oceanian Association of Neurology (AOAN).
